A bit about me....

I am an economist specialized in economic history and in the economics of innovation. I was educated at Bocconi University, Milan, Italy and at Eindhoven University of Technology, the Netherlands where I received a PhD in Economics.  Currently, I am associate professor of economic history at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa, Italy.

My main research field is the study of the role played by science and technology in the emergence and consolidation of “modern economic growth” with a particular focus on the Industrial Revolution in England. At the moment, I am also interested in the relationship between patent systems and economic performance both in historical and contemporary contexts.

On this website you can find  an overview of my research, my full cv, my contact details  as well as some teaching materials.
